Mel heads up Hooray’s digital marketing efforts, ensuring that more people can discover a better way to do employee benefits.
Job title:
Head of Digital Marketing
Main responsibilities:
Overseeing all the digital marketing efforts for Engage Health Group and helping to communicate its expert knowledge to a wider audience.
Why did you join?
Initially I worked for Engage and Hooray as a freelancer but was then strong-armed into joining the company proper! But in all seriousness, it’s a company that seeks to do things the right way, providing business owners and HR teams with expertise they can genuinely trust. And the team seem like a decent bunch too.
What qualities/experience do you bring to your role?
The ability – and determination – to wrap my limited brain cells around complex subjects and relay them in simple terms.
What do you like most about the company?
The company is serious about doing the right thing by customers, and yet manages it with a light touch.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Ultimately, hearing how the sales team is drawing leads from our work!
What’s your favourite workplace perk?
The health cash plan is great because it provides cashback on things like dentistry and physiotherapy should you need it.
Any hobbies?
Playing guitar and writing songs. I can occasionally be found driving customers out of pubs at open mics. Come back, you’ll miss the encore!
Favourite band/artist?
Really depends on my mood, but right now Sparks, Interpol, Crowded House and Les Rita Mitsouko.
Any guilty pleasures music wise?
Hmm. Does Sparks also count for this? Otherwise Aha.
Favourite film?
Also depends on my mood but generally films like Gladiator, Aliens, Ghostbusters, Blade Runner, Escape From New York and other retro sci-fi. Also quite like the old Ray Harryhausen films like Jason and the Argonauts (all wooden acting and staccato monsters).
